I received this pendant as a gift from a dear friend when my divorce was final. While at that point I thought I had been through the most difficult part of the journey, a new more difficult journey that I couldn’t foresee was just beginning. But my friend knew. I began to grieve the loss of the life I had hoped for, and the loss of the person I was before my world crumbled. And rebuilding was hard work — the babies wouldn’t have, the full time job I’d have to take, the finding myself again. I wore the necklace and adopted the mantra: Next Best Thing. And just kept doing the next best thing, no matter how small, to get me through the next day. Seven years later I’m in a different place — stronger, more hopeful — and with a new perspective that helps me appreciate the pain as a part of the growth and transformation that landed me where I am today.
